Halloween

We had a fun Halloween. I was able to sneak over to see Alex's fall program at preschool. The kids sang songs and then we got to go trick-or-treating around the school and play various games they had set up. Weston and Alex dressed up as M&M's this year. We went trick-or-treating with a group of friends. Both Alex and Weston loved it. They were pretty cute!

2 Year Stats

Weston had his two year check up right after his birthday and he is maintaining his growth curve quite well. He weighed in at 35 lb, 13 oz (99th percentile) and is 3'1" tall (97th percentile). Developmentally, he is doing great and is right on target. His language has really taken off now and his personality is really shining through, which is fun to see. You better watch out or Wes might give you his mean face! His favorite thing right now is definitely cows! He is either playing with his toy cows or talking about cows the majority of the day. Other favorite things include anything Mickey Mouse related, listening to music, reading books, playing with cars, or playing with anything Alex is currently playing with. He is getting to be a little bit pickier with what he eats but he's still a good eater overall. He also loves all dips and condiments (ketchup, mustard, ranch, etc.)- anything he can dip his food, finger, or spoon into. We love this guy!

Pumpkins

My mom came into town the Friday before Weston's birthday. We went to the pumpkin patch to pick out our own pumpkins right from the stalks.

For some reason the wheelbarrow was much heavier going back than it was walking out to the field...

We carved the pumpkins later on in the weekend. Alex liked his apron and spoons, while Wes dug right in with his hands (and even his mouth at times- gross).

Weston's 2nd Birthday!

I can't believe Weston is two already! Where did this past year go?? We celebrated this year with a Mickey Mouse party. In addition to the immediate family, Weston was lucky enough to have all 4 grandparents, 2 great grandparents, and 1 special aunt come celebrate his big day.

Almost everything that Weston received for his birthday was related to Mickey or cows, and he honestly loves everything. Grandma Mimi made him this adorable farm blanket. Weston hadn't slept with a blanket in his crib up until this point, but we now let him sleep with his special farm blanket and he thinks it is pretty darn cool. Surprisingly it actually stays on him at night too.

For the two weeks prior to his birthday, anytime we talked about his party, Weston would respond with, "Sara Mickey cookies." He was ready for them and of course she did not disappoint!

No Mickey party is complete unless you have Mickey cake and of course Mickey hats!

Pleasant Valley Farm

During a trip to WI a few weeks ago, we went to Pleasant Valley Farm. It was a nice day and the fall colors were beautiful. The boys had a great time. Alex was in heaven because of all of the little games there, while Weston's favorite activity was the jumpy. They also had fun at the petting zoo, corn maze, slides, hay mountain, and going for a hay ride.

Weston's "Barns"

I started to notice this summer that Weston tends to walk on the inside of his feet. I also thought it was a little odd that he could walk okay in Crocs that are too big for him, but yet when he wore shoes that actually have support, he would fall all of the time. After consulting with some of my PT friends, I decided to take him to an orthotist for an evaluation. They recommended we try some orthotics to help offset the inward rolling of his feet. This picture is a good example of what Weston's foot "pronation" looks like from the back.

Wes got to pick out what pattern he wanted on his orthotics. He is very into barns right now, so as soon as he saw one that had barns on them, his mind was made up! His orthotics came in about 2 weeks ago, and so far he has been doing great with them! He calls them his "barns" and he wears then during all waking hours. The best part is that they really do seem to help. He walks and runs more smoothly, doesn't fall nearly as often, and just seems overall more stable. It's amazing what a flexible, little piece of plastic can do!

Fab 5

Alex started a new preschool this year. He now goes to Shepherd's Flock Preschool and is in the Fabulous 5's class (even though he's not quite 5 yet). He goes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons, and so far he has loved it. I think he's still adjusting to not having a nap on those days, but he seems to like it there and is very proud to show us his work when he gets home. He has three teachers- Ms. Jodie, Ms. Kay, and Ms. Kerry. He really likes "station time" because the kids get to pick which station to go to. He most often goes to the "game station"- no surprise there!
