Dan Patch Days 2011

It's no secret that I love our local festival, Dan Patch Days, and this year was no exception. It's fun to see how different Alex is every year. Last year he loved the petting zoo and completely freaked out while riding the little train. This year he was pretty hesitant in the petting zoo at first, but eventually warmed up, and absolutely loved the train. Saturday night we enjoyed watching fireworks right from our driveway. Sunday we enjoyed the pancake breakfast at the new local fire station and had fun exploring all of the fire trucks. We wrapped up the fun by watching the parade on Sunday afternoon with a group of friends. Another successful Dan Patch Days in the books!

Luke and Megan's Wedding Weekend

Congratulations to Andy's cousin, Luke, and his new wife, Megan. We enjoyed celebrating with them at their wedding on Saturday and had a nice weekend with family at the farm.

Cabin

We had a great weekend up at a friend's cabin in Brainerd, MN. Andy and I had a chance to relax with friends while Alex played with his friends Bailey and Henry. Even Rosco got to play with his new friend K.C. Rosco and K.C. were not too happy about being left behind during our boat ride but they had fun together. Rosco could not get enough of swimming in the lake. The kids had fun playing in the sandbox, popping bubbles, and swimming. Here is a slew of pictures from the weekend.

Exciting Trip to the Zoo

Alex and I had a fun and exciting trip to the zoo on Wednesday. We went first thing in the morning and a lot of the animals were really active and playful. It also wasn't crowded right away so the kids got a front row view of all of the action. We got a little more action than we intended when at one point we were rushed into a building because a wolf had escaped in the zoo. We didn't know it at the time but we were much too close to him! Luckily no one (except for little wolfie) was hurt in the ordeal.

This bear was going crazy playing in the water right next to the glass.

You could tell the kids thought it was pretty cool but

were also a little freaked out by it.

Alex looks like such a big boy in this picture to me.

It's amazing what a difference a year makes. The picture

below is of Alex in the same spot just less than a year ago.

T.C. Bear

On Tuesday when it was 105 degrees here, Alex and I decided an indoor activity would be a good idea so we headed to the mall for some shopping and a visit to the aquarium. The Twins mascot, T.C. Bear, was there taking pictures. You can tell Alex is still not a big fan of characters or people in costumes.

Doctor Mom!

Earlier this month I finally finished my Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program. We went out for a nice family dinner last weekend to celebrate. I think we are all excited that I no longer have to spend nights and weekends trying to get through homework. It was a good program but I am very happy to be done!
