10 Months

Weston is 10 months old now. He's been both sleeping and eating pretty well lately. He eats primarily all table food now. I've been able to almost completely wean him off putting rice in his bottles so his reflux seems to at least be getting better rather than worse these days. (This makes for a happy Weston as well as a happy mom!) He's getting better at pulling himself up and he absolutely loves to stand. His latest tricks are to wave (with both hands at the same time) and to blow kisses.

Fountains at Nicollet Commons

I've have known about this place for awhile now but for some reason we have never made it over there to play. We decided to spend our last day of summer here and I'm glad we did. It was awesome! What kid, or adult for that matter, hasn't had the urge to jump into a fountain? Well this place is a series of fountains that are meant to be played in. The boys brought their water toys and had a blast all morning long. Of course Alex needed to check out every single fountain so we hopped from one area to the next until we made the full circle. I wish we had come here sooner. It's close by, free, relaxing, perfect for keeping both boys entertained, and a great way to stay cool without me constantly worrying that the boys are going to fall under the water. Throw in a picnic lunch and it was the perfect end to a fun summer.

Toddler Tuesday

We hit up the last Toddler Tuesday of the summer at the Mall of America this week. We got there early and took a quick walk through the Sea Life Aquarium. There was no one there right when it opened so it was awesome to be able to see everything and walk through at our own pace. Weston was pretty fascinated by the whole thing. Then we met our friends to go on some rides. It was nice that there were extra parents there to keep an eye on Wes and I could go on some rides with Alex.

Checking out the rays

Wes loved the jellyfish.

The train is always a good first ride to get into the swing of things.

Alex opted out of this ride but Henry and Bailey rocked it.

I think the hot air balloon ride is my personal favorite of the kid rides.

Dinosaurs

I took the boys to the zoo last week. I was surprised that Alex was eager to see the new dinosaur exhibit but he said he wanted to go. There are 15 animatronic dinosaurs along a wooden trail. Alex enjoyed it for the most part. There were a few right next to the walkway that were a little closer than he would have liked but overall he seemed to enjoy it. I have to admit I thought they were pretty cool too. Weston just sat in his stroller mesmerized throughout our walk through.

Okee Dokee Brothers

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit but the kids saw the Okee Dokee Brothers three times within the last ten days, twice with me and once with Andy. Perhaps that makes us a bit obsessed?? But what can I say, they're good and we always enjoy them! Heidi took these pictures during one of our recent outings. I love how all of the kids are just in awe...

Asheville

I took a little girl's vacation at the end of July with my best friends from high school, Angela and April. We spent a wonderful four days in Asheville, NC. We didn't know when we booked our tickets that it was the weekend of Bele Chere, which is a huge, free, street music festival. It made the weekend a little busier but it worked out well and provided us with some easy and free entertainment. You know your condo is in an ideal location when it's closer to walk back to it than it is to find a port-a-potty! We ate great food, enjoyed a brewery tour, hiked in the mountains, saw some fun music and dancing, and enjoyed a relaxing weekend of girl time (and no kids!). Everyone survived back home, and perhaps even enjoyed themselves, with the help of Aunt Sara. Thanks Sara!

Tackle

How old do you have to be to tackle your big brother for the toy you want? Apparently 9 months is sufficient.

"I want that car and I'm coming to get it."

"Give me your car!"

"Mine!"

"I will eat you if necessary!"

"Score! I'm soooo going to be bigger than him soon."

9 Month Stats

Weston had his 9-month check up today. Being that he's been wearing 18 month-2T clothing, it came as no surprise that he was at the high end or off the charts! Weight: 26 pounds, 14 ounces (99th percentile). Length: 30 inches (92nd percentile). Head Circumference: 19 1/4 inches (99th percentile).

9 Months

It's hard to believe Weston is 9 months old already! He's been sleeping through the night pretty consistently lately and usually blesses us with at least one decent nap per day. He's been eating more and more table food and the boy likes his meat! Pieces of chicken, ground turkey, or ground beef have all been big winners lately. He still loves his yogurt, shredded cheese, and rice. He's starting to pull himself up and can "army crawl" now so nothing on ground level is safe anymore. Other than Alex's cars, I've decided Wes doesn't really like toys. He would much prefer to entertain himself with cards, paper, bags, cords, straps, or anything else he's not supposed to have. He has two bottom teeth fully in and four top teeth poking through and still has that great, big, drooly smile.
