Nisswa Family Vacation

We spent last week up in Nisswa, MN with my family. We really appreciated everyone coming up to our part of the country. It is so much easier (and cheaper) to toss everything, including the kids, into a car rather than having to deal with flying! We all had a great week up at the lake house. We went swimming, golfing, fishing, biking, miniature golfing, shopping, watched the turtle races, rented a pontoon, built a campfire, played games, watched movies, and the lucky ladies even sneaked in a massage at the spa. Not a bad week!

Alex had been waiting for weeks to go miniature golfing.
He was so excited!

Alex caught 10 fish with his own fishing pole.

Weston loved having a ton of room to run around
outside at the lake house.

Good night stories with Dad, Uncle Beavis, and Simon

Lounging with Aunt Jill in their new pajamas from Nonna.

Unfortunately the day we reserved a boat was the coldest, wettest, windiest day of the week.
The trip started out peaceful with donuts on the boat and taking in the scenery as we traveled
down the lake. Once we turned around and faced the wind, it was undeniably cold, the water was
choppy, and the guys sitting in the front of the boat got wet. It was not the most relaxing boat
trip, but will be one to remember....

I love this picture of the boys!

Captain Alex!

Wes loved steering the boat with Grandpa!

The last night was a perfect night for a campfire, which was
the last thing left on Alex's "To Do" list for the week. It was
a great night (even though we missed Kevin and Simon).

Alex and Uncle Matt

A rare family photo

Alex cooked his hotdogs on the fire. They were delicious!

Wes liked roasting marshmallows over the fire.

He enjoyed eating his first s'mores too!

Chubby Bunny champion! Well done, Dad!

Color Run

I completed my first 5K last weekend, and achieved my goal of running the whole thing. I could not have asked for a better group of girls to train and run the race with. It was a lot of fun!

Before the run- nice and clean

At the finish line!

 My fabulous cheering section!

Feeding Giraffes

The boys and I had a great day at the zoo last week. The weather was perfect and both boys loved seeing the animals. They have a new giraffe exhibit this summer and they even got to feed them. It was pretty cool!

He looks nervous in the picture, but Alex was actually
really excited to feed the giraffes.

In true Weston style, he immediately chucked the
biscuit at the giraffe! It cracked me up.

With a little help, he was able to actually feed him.

Monsters University

We took the boys to see Monsters University last weekend. We knew Alex would be fine, but Weston actually sat surprisingly well too. We made it through the whole movie, and Andy and I actually got to watch it too!

Visitors

Sam, Rachel, Greta, and Berit were in town a couple of weeks ago. We had fun going to see the Okee Dokee Brothers, a cookout at our house, going to a park, and spending a day swimming at Rachel's sister's house. I was apparently too busy having fun to take many pictures, but here are a couple.

Maracas!

One of Alex's dreams came true a couple of weeks ago when we went to see the Okee Dokee Brothers and he was chosen to come up and play the maracas! He took his role very seriously and did a great job.

Tackler

Weston loves to tackle anything or anyone! With his size, determination, and tackling practice, we figure he's just working on obtaining a college football scholarship.
